VDV and Fire/Life Safety Certification Practice Exams

Starting on June 2, 2014 the VDV exam has been changed to include the 2011 NEC and the test structure has been changed from a mostly code exam to 50% code and 50% overall common knowledge system exam. In prepping for the exam you will want to know how to navigate the NEC and also study the VDV handout document and PowerPoint within the new Exam Prep course (see below). The exam is on multiple systems including audio/visual, security, CCTV, and structured cabling.

Also, the Fire/Life Safety exam has been changed and will use the 2011 NEC and the 2013 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code. The 2013 NFPA 72 has changed dramatically and the chapters have been reassigned. Our recommendation is for you to purchase the 2013 NFPA 72 for studying and using the prep questions to help practice navigating the codebooks.

The exams are now hosted on our online course site called Etudes. To take the practice exams, you will need to register for the course. Once registered, NorCal S&C JATC will verify your status in your local and then assign you to the class. You will receive an email with instructions to login. Please allow two to three business days to confirm your status.
